Final Project Storybook
I decided to manipulate my photos from a hike I took to Camel's Hump this year. The photos do a better job of describing the phenomenal views once you reach the summit. There are also many neat things along the way. Enjoy!

Week 13 Homework

The kids were no where to be found so these are portrait photos of two fun colleagues and a couple of Boo Boo (my cat). Of course I have taken pictures of family, friends, etc. before, but it seemed strange asking to take someone's picture. Portrait photography is something I could get used to and have a lot of fun with. The only difficulty I found about taking Boo Boo's photo was keeping him still.

Week 8 Homework

For the first photo I used the magic wand to select the sky and used the color fill to make it blue. Then using levels, manually adjusted color to brighten the photo a little. I used the same tools to change the sky in the second photo and used the saturation and lightness adjustments to brighten the colors.

Week 5-Assignment 2

I was thinking that I had one more day to take photos and ran out of time so that is why there are 2 night photos. I included a couple of other ones I had saved that I believe follow our topic this week. The first photo is centered and the second one is more in the third line, and shows more back and foreground; even though they are just leaves it makes a better photo. With the third photo I tried to fit the building and sign into the picture by centering them. The next photo looks nicer at a different angle and gives a nice perspective of the tracks, too.Sunday, October 11, 2009
Week5- Assignment 1
Before this week’s assignment I always focused on the object of the photograph, not where to place it in the frame. Simply focusing on background settings can change the aesthetics of any photograph. This week I learned to look at the entire shot- sort of like cropping the picture prior to taking it. That is, look at the full frame not just the object. This site discusses the rule of thirds, and I found it helpful. http://www.geofflawrence.com/photography_tutorial_composition.php

Week 4 Homework

My first photo was taken at night and I like it because the pumpkin looks nice against the black background. It does seem a little blurry though and I think that is due to me being in a hurry to get back in the house in the dark. The second photo was in sunlight obvious from the shadow of the pumpkin and the third one is under a cloudy sky.

Week 2 Photo Assignment

In the first photo I like the color of the sky and the background view, but I like the second photo better because attention is drawn more to the tree rather than the background and the color is nicer. I think the background with the darker green may have an effect on the red, too. The sun was setting to the right and that may be why the sky is so light on that side in the second one.
